We have received a great deal of feedback from case managers and supervisors working on this project. Much of the feedback is related to issues that case managers encounter while working with their clients. Specifically, we receive feedback of suggested improvements to the program and feedback that expresses the frustrations that people feel about the timeline of the program, as well as inquiries from individuals looking for employment. Every now and then we receive feedback that is positive in nature. One such instance occurred last week when an affiliate wrote to us telling the story of a case manager from the affiliate who worked to arrange for the use of volunteers to complete a home where repairs were begun, but never completed.

The individual wrote that she was grateful for the opportunity to work on this project and that because of the process, including the paperwork involved, the case manager was able to identify the client who needed assistance and develop a plan of action. I bring this story to your attention because we often get feedback concerning the paperwork that is a part of this program. Many times the feedback is not favorable, as you might imagine. However, in this instance, the paperwork facilitated the formation of the relationship between the client and the case manager. This is how the paperwork in this program should be used. The paperwork associated with the case management process should be viewed as a tool that case managers use to build a relationship with a client that, in turn, results in the development of a recovery plan that addresses client needs. If the paperwork is not built into the formation of the relationship, then it can be a hindrance. However, if the paperwork is introduced into the relationship and viewed as a tool to make the relationship more successful, then the client and the case manager will benefit.

Please continue to provide us your feedback. We review your suggestions for improvements every month during the reporting process and will continue to strive to meet the needs of the program based on your input.

Blessings,

Stephen
