It is hard to believe that the MCMC program has only been in operation, officially, for one month. Our program launch workshop took place on August 12 and 13! In this short period of time, some truly remarkable partnerships have been established. I want to thank the executive leadership of LESM, our MCMC management agency, as they continue to provide personnel and logistical support for our field management staff. They will be very busy over the next month as they begin their initial site visits, continue to deliver training, and facilitate meetings of affiliate supervisors. I also want to thank our partners at FEMA as they continue to work with us in the implementation of this program, and for their willingness to help us solve problems. They have certainly been busy over the last few weeks in dealing with numerous other disaster events. We are all grateful as well for the support of the State of Mississippi and MCVS, without whom the MCMC project would have been impossible. The partnership that has developed between the Federal Government (FEMA), State Government (MCVS), and the faith-based/nonprofit sector is indeed remarkable. It has given us the ability to work together in this consortium with a common mission of delivering high quality disaster case management services. As we move forward, the MCMC project is being examined at many different levels and is a part of a national conversation. The leadership and management staff of MCMC thanks you, the case manager, for continuing to teach us even as you work with clients. Our staff stands ready to assist, and we look forward to seeing you in the field! Blessings, Stephen |
