I hope that you all had a great Memorial Day weekend. The weather was miserable, but the time spent with family and friends was hopefully restful. For me, Memorial Day is a very somber Holiday. And, it is an opportunity for inspiration. As I have said many times, I am inspired by the act of serving. More pointedly, I am inspired by people who serve. Whatever form service takes, whether it be military service, community service, public or political service, it makes no difference to me. The fact that people take action when they feel a call to serve is inspirational.

On the flip side, I have little empathy or understanding of those who choose not to act when they feel a call to service. There are many within our communities and around the world who, for whatever reason, cannot bring themselves to serve anyone or anything other than their own self interest. Choosing not to serve is a choice to miss out on so many opportunities for inspiration and spiritual growth. I am thankful that you have all chosen to serve. Maybe your self-interest is satisfied by the act of serving others and you do not think that what you are doing is noble in any way. Let me assure you that your spirit and willingness to serve is crucial in this world and appreciated by many more than you may ever know. We have an opportunity to continue our work – our service – and I am thankful that I am able to serve alongside you on this project.

Blessings,

Stephen
